The absurdity of living in the time of presidential gifting of shoes to lackeys too scared not to wear them
Apparently Donald Trump, for whatever reason, has been gifting members of his cabinet with Florsheim shoes, and instead of asking for the sizes of everyone's feet, he's guessing. He likes to trust his gut, apparently, in times of war and in times of shoe shopping.
Anyway, though the war with Iran is in full swing, Trump still has time to look at the footwear of his lackeys and decided they needed new shoes. Some, according to the Guardian, "snipe about having to wear middling footwear instead of their upmarket favorites."
And his gut seems to be wrong when guessing the size of the shoes for his men beside him. He seems to prefer buying them larger than needed, perhaps to go with his larger-than-life personality. Here is an image of Marco Rubio in the gifted shoes - you'll see a lot of space between his heel and the heel of the shoe:

The gifting of the shoes has been covered in multiple media outlets: Vogue, Wall Street Journal, People and more:
Preliminary results from a Google search on Trump's gifting of the shoes
It appears to be an "obsession" with Trump, to gift shoes to people that don't fit. From the Wall Street Journal: "'All the boys have them,' said a female White House official. Another joked, 'It’s hysterical because everybody’s afraid not to wear them.' The shoe-salesman-in-chief is paying attention."
So wear them they do, these man who are too scared not to wear them. Alas, poor America! We are led by men who cannot push back against anything Trump says or does – not war, not tariffs, not even shoes that do not fit. Terrifying times in America, because authoritarianism has arrived. The lackeys will never say "no" to the man who is tearing apart the global order, one stupid order or gift issued by whim and Trump's "gut."
